# Settings

> What each option in the Unbound section of Discord settings does, and when to use it.

Unbound adds its own section, called **Unbound**, at the top of Discord's settings. Most of Unbound's options live on its **General** page.

### Pages in the Unbound section

| Page | What it's for |
| - | - |
| **General** | Recovery, restart, toasts, links, and version info. Covered on this page. |
| **Plugins** | Your installed plugins. See [Managing Addons](/user-guide/managing-addons). |
| **Design** | Your themes, icon packs, and fonts. See [Managing Addons](/user-guide/managing-addons). |
| **Developer** | Tools for addon developers. Only shown while **Developer Mode** is on. |
| **Marketplace** | Coming soon. See [Marketplace](/user-guide/marketplace). |

Some pages don't appear in the list and open from another page instead: **Toast Settings** and **Cloud Sync** open from **General**, and a plugin's settings open from the gear button on its card.

### The General page

The rows below are listed in the order they appear, from top to bottom.

#### Recovery and restart

<ResponseField name="Recovery Mode">
  Stops all addons from loading. The description under it reads "Prevents all addons from loading while enabled."

  Use it when a plugin breaks Discord and you need to get in and remove it. When you flip the switch, Unbound asks you to restart, because the change only takes effect after a restart. Turn it off and restart again when you're done.

  For step-by-step fixes, see [Troubleshooting](/user-guide/troubleshooting).
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Restart">
  Restarts Discord. Unbound asks "Are you sure you want to restart the app?" first. Tap **Restart** to go ahead or **Cancel** to stay.

  Use it after you apply or change a theme, after you update an addon, or after you turn **Recovery Mode** on or off.
</ResponseField>

#### Toasts and Cloud Sync

<ResponseField name="Toasts">
  Opens **Toast Settings**, where you control the small pop-up notifications that appear at the top of the screen. See [Toast Settings](#toast-settings) below.
</ResponseField>

</ResponseField>

  These are Discord's own internal options, not Unbound's. Leave this off unless you know what you're looking for.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Developer Mode">
  Shows the **Developer** page in the Unbound section, which has tools for people who build addons. Off by default, and most people never need it. To learn what's on that page, see [Debugging](/development/debugging) in the Developer Guide.
</ResponseField>

#### Links

<ResponseField name="GitHub">
  Opens Unbound's GitHub page in your browser.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Documentation">

</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Support Server">

</ResponseField>

#### Version info

Include all three of these values when you report a bug. They tell the developers exactly which build of Unbound and Discord you're running.

<ResponseField name="Unbound">

### Toast settings

Open these from **General** > **Toasts**. Changes apply right away.

<ResponseField name="Enable Toasts">
  On by default. While it's on, Unbound shows Discord's pop-up notifications in its own style, along with toasts from Unbound and your plugins.

  Turn it off to get Discord's normal pop-ups back. While it's off, toasts from Unbound and plugins don't appear.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Animations">
  On by default. Toasts slide and fade in and out. Turn it off and toasts appear and disappear instantly.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Max Toasts on Screen">
  How many toasts can show at once, from **0** to **10**. The default is **3**. When there are more than that, the newest ones are shown.

  Set it to **0** for no limit.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Duration">
  How long a toast stays on screen, from **0** to **10** seconds. The default is **5s**.

  Set it to **0** and the label reads **Indefinite**, meaning toasts stay until you close them. A toast that sets its own length ignores this setting.
